I’ve started working for an organisation that has literally thousands of photos stored really haphazardly. I’ve been tasked with organising the many folders into something more user-friendly. Are there any recommended systems out there for this kind of asset management? Naming conventions, file managers? Help!

google’s Picasa is useful
as is Adobe’s Photo Organizer (Photoshop Elements and Album)
Organizing Photos by month taken is also useful, event, photographer
Photoshop’s Process Multiple Files command is really useful for renaming a couple hundred files
