amoeller asked:
I show you how to take apart a Xbox 360 hard drive to get it ready to hook up to the computer. The tutorial I used is here http://www.xbox-scene.com/tutorials-xbox360/open-xbox360-hdd-drive.php
and Xplorer360 Beta 6 used for file management on the hard drive when hooked up to the computer is here http://www.360gamesaves.com then go to downloads.
You can get the software and more info on how to mod a laptop hard drive to work in your Xbox 360 at http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=e18a96e615630f320778d5885ea73a63&showtopic=601813&st=0&p=3984074entry3984074

The HHDHacker tool only supports the 120gb HHD due to Microsoft’s max being 120gb. Also the version of the HHD that you need is the WD1200BEVS, and it has to be the LAT version, not RST (This info is found on the HHD itself.)

If anyone can asnwer my question I would appreciate it. my hardrive fell on its insertion point and for some reason my Hard drive won’t read when put into my xbox 360. I think that a loosen piece is the cause but Thats my belief. so is it still possible to recover all my game files if I just take out that piece that is considered to be the actual hard drive shown at 5:19 and somehow plug it into anoher hard drive or some other type of transerable device? I’m devastated due to my HD not working

Can someone PLease answer these questions: Can i use a Western Digital Scorpio 250GB BEVS HDD for this or is it only limited to 120GB cause im still confused?
Where do i plug in the SATA power plugs?
May 11th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Any Western Digital Scorpio (Model#: WD1200BEVS)HDD will work. Only 120GB is Max. You can go on ebay and buy one for 30$-50$ and up. Some go for 24$ (bidding).

looking at the video its definitely not a 3.5″ hard drive (desktop HDD), its too small..
But if you look up the model number: Seagate LD25.1 it comes up as a 2.5″ (notebook HDD) 5400RPM.
Ie, the cheapest notebook drive money could buy.. thank god for Microsoft.
May 14th, 2008 at 7:04 am
is it a 2.5″ hard drive or a 3.5″ hard drive? :O
May 17th, 2008 at 8:46 am
is it really that easy? then i’ll install 250gb hard drive to my xbox360…:D

I bought the regular Microsoft 120GB HD pack with the transfer cable and then swapped the drives since I wanted to keep the Halo 3 case but have 120GB on storage space. Worked just fine when you know what awaits you when opening the case etc.
May 18th, 2008 at 6:11 am
where did you get the hard drive to replace it? and how much did it cost, i mean like you bought just hard drive and not the whole case that you would have had to take apart and remove to get at the hard drive.

Hi amoeller,
thank you for this video. It helped me upgrade my Halo 3 Xbox 360 to 120GB.

yo junkson the point of this is the hard drive in a xbox 360 is a SATA Laptop hard drive soooo if you can open it up you can repleace the 20,60, or 120 gb hard drive in there and you can slap a 250,500,1tb and more its actually very useful
May 24th, 2008 at 10:49 am
