srunyon1 asked:
do you kn0ow how to create and save folders and files?
come on, how many people do you know download somthing and never find it, Say I saved it and the didn’t. Run out of hard disk space and don’t know how to delete it.
so they by another hardrive.Thier computer starts runing slow so they buy a new one…..
Im not talking about organization, most users can not even drag and drop from one folder to the next. move files off a camera. If the software puts it in the last used directry most users do not have a clue. Yes if you have a dos background they know what C:/windows is.
Even with the file cabinets Most people don’t get it……

Most users are on a need-to-know basis, and if they don’t need to know, they don’t care.
For those of us who were around when MS-DOS was the only game in town for PC’s, the need to know about file management was much greater. We didn’t have pretty pictures on the screen to represent directories and files, and couldn’t drag and drop things with a mouse.

What are you talking about? Folder creation is with the push of a button (if the software doesn’t intelligently take you to the default folder) and files are ‘created’ automagically when you click save. Reject.

The Windows GUI is built on the metaphor of the filing cabinet. For most people, they don’t need to worry about the reality behind the metaphor.
If, by this question, you mean that people don’t know about how to organize their folders, perhaps their organizational styles are different from yours. And, there’s the Search feature.

In the old days of MS-Dos file management was more noticeable because of the time and steps taken, now like everything else, windows have made it easier for users thus making it seem like users don’t know
