I downloaded a song from a site. I need to convert it to mp3. I used and audio converter to convert it. but it keeps giving me an error message. It says the file is protected by digital rights management? Is there a way to convert this file?
I paid for to download this song from a site. what’s wrong with that?

Yes, there is…here is a free tutorial, but you must have legal rights or having a valid license to the song - purchased it, etc.:

Save the hassel, Download LImewire from - then download the song again, on MP3.. or search for MP3 WMA in download.com but i wouldnt bother, just download LimeWire and download it again

You can not put any music files into a player where the songs have been digitally blocked from being copied. Sites that let you install music will charge you money to be downloaded. You would see the fee and the statement saying that you could download it to another device.

You can not do it in terms of software. But you can have a workaround solution. it is a bit tricky. first you need a cable to connect your audio output to your audio input. For more information see Then you can play from your wma from a Media Player etc. and record with your Sound Recorder (Start->Programs->Accessories->Entertainment). After that you may save the song as wav file. Then it will be no problem to convert wav to mp3. Don’t forget if your sound card does not have two channels you will have mono file rather than a stereo and certainly you will comprimise from your audio quality and it is against DRM
