yes, the usb1.1 and usb 2.0 file transfer cable that has a controller in the middle of the cable, which allows you to migrate data from one computer to another via usb transfer cable. You could just use the usb drive and transfer data from connected computer to the usb drive. Then use the usb drive on the unconnected computer to transfer data. The usb drive is better than a floppy disk by far. Caution, even if you use the USB Cable to transfer data from internet computer to the unconnected computer, you might be able to get internet just by using the usb transfer cable. The usb cable might need some more thought, before deciding to use it.

Probably would be more practical to remove the hard disk from the desktop and put it in a external usb hard drive box.
then allow network sharing on that external drive.

You could put stuff on it and anybody else on the net work if you do it right.

I have the dos ndd, norton disk doctor, it will restore the fat copy , if it in fat 32, you can prgably restore it with fdisk, by using fdisk (drive letter) /mbr
whover made the drive, should have file checking software on their website you can download, that will check and repair things like that

Try using Knoppix. Download and burn to CD, Then boot your computer up with it. Then transfer all the files over from the firewire drive to a primary drive on your computer....then restart...Format Drive, and restore data.
